I wrote this song after I got baptized in the Holy Spirit and was trying to live a chaste life in Christ, but I was struggling with fornication (premarital sex). I know God wants us to wait until marriage before having sex, but my former rock 'n roll party days followed different rules, and some of them were pretty hard to give up! The "loaded gun" is symbolic for premarital sex, as the Scripture says, the wages of sin = death, and if I were to continue in that sin, I would grieve the Holy Spirit = spiritual death.
