I was full of hurt, disappointed because my dad left me when I was 13, my mom was too busy with her new husband and I grew up alone, fending for myself, looking for love from friends who hurt me more with careless words. I was so wounded when I wrote this song, and I cried out to God to please help me, discipline me, love me, and take this pain away, no matter what it costs to follow Him.
Separated, lost in space. Desperation has no place in the heart of an innocent child, though her parents let her run wild. It's no good for her, it's no good.
Guard your tongue to save your life. Talk is cheap, it causes strife when you choose words to hurt your dear friends, and you ramble on like there's no end, keep on bruising me, bruising me.
And I want to become one of the righteous. In its' pathway there's no death. And I fear the Lord with all of my heart, rebuke me to Save My Soul ...
